Red raspberries come into season in the northeast during the months of July and August. We have 5 raspberry bushes on our property that we utilize. Picky raspberries isn’t easy due to the thorns on the stems. When picking fresh berries I recommend that you wear gloves. If you’re buying the raspberries from the grocery store or farmer’s market…you won’t have to worry about that!

When hulling strawberries I like to use my Joie Strawberry Huller that I picked up from Amazon. It’s easy to use! If you want to bump up the nutritional content and health benefits…use Manuka Honey instead of regular honey in the recipe. We like to serve fruit smoothies in chilled glasses. If you want to do the same…place glasses into the freezer for 30-60 minutes before serving.
Raspberry and Strawberry Fruit Smoothie Recipe
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
1/2 cup fresh red raspberries
1/2 cup cold milk
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1 tsp. honey
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
3 ice cubes
Optional: You can garnish the glass with fresh hulled & halved strawberries and/or raspberries if desired.
Place all of the ingredients into the blender except for the 3 ice cubes. Blend for 15 seconds. Toss in the 3 ice cubes and blend again. Just blend it enough to get the consistency that you like. Pour into glasses. Serve immediately.
