Memorial day is a day to remember, reflect and honor all of our nation’s heroes. It’s a federal holiday and the unofficial start to the summer season. It’s observed the last Monday in the month of May.
Every year our family honors our nation’s fallen heroes by visiting local cemeteries and participating in rememberence ceremonies there. Sometimes that participation is placing wreaths or flags on soldier’s graves and at other times it’s simply praying for them, their families and other things going on in our world today.
A lot of people have lost the “real reason” for Memorial Day and look at it just a day to get together with family & friends to have some fun. Backyard barbecues, picnics, trips to the beach, vacation, swimming, boating, whatever. While that is all nice…please don’t forget about the REAL reason for this day.
