Doodle Art Hand Painted Seashell Designs

Do you enjoy doodling? Love seashells? If you answered YES to both of those questions this beautiful craft project is for you! Doodling is such a fun hobby to get into and anyone can do it! No experience needed. You can doodle all kinds of different things and put them together to make one unique piece of art.

Today I’m sharing with you three of my Doodle Art Hand Painted Seashell Designs. I did the artwork on large 4″ and 5″ wide clam shells aka seashells. You can do it on other type’s of shells, smooth river rocks, or other type’s of surfaces…even a cheap piece of art canvas!

For this project I base coated the clam shells with one coat of white acrylic craft paint. Let it dry for 45 minutes or until it’s no longer tacky.

Next is the fun part. Doodling! I used a pencil and an eraser. I lightly doodled onto the seashell the design that I wanted. This allows you to be creative! Each of mine has one main focus point: Flowers to represent the Spring season. After I doodled the focust point I simply marked off irregular sections going around it.

To make the painting super easy I used BETEM Acrylic Paint Markers with dual tips. One end has a fine tip and the other end a medium tip. They come in beautiful vibrant colors and dry quickly. These are PAINT MARKERS…not the type of markers that kids draw with. They contain acrylic paint. Use them to color in all of the areas that you  made. I liked the look of a stained glass window so I used a lot of vibrant colors.

Once I had the seashell painted I went back into some of the areas to add additionl interest by using the black paint marker to outline all areas, to add polka dots, stripes diamonds, hearts, to write wordage, dates, etc. You can really get creative. Let everything dry for a few hours.

To protect the paint you want to brush-on 2 coats of Clear Mod Podge Sealer with a Glossy Finish allowing for 35-40 minutes of drying time between coats. It will dry crystal clear and give the shells a nice shine. The one seashell I used Gorilla Glue to adhere a lime green faux gemstone into the center of the flower to add additional interest. I think they turned out cute! The perfect little decorating accents for the Spring season.
