Banana Blueberry Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Two months ago we started incorporating homemade fruit smoothies into our daily diets. Most of us don’t eat enough fruits and this is one way that we can up our fruit intake while leading very busy lives. On top of that, the fruit smoothies are a healthier alternative than consuming high-caloric drinks!

This fruit smoothie recipe only utilizes 4 ingredients. You can use fresh or frozen bananas and blueberries. I often use frozen since I buy in bulk at my local farmer’s market and freeze them once I get home. Yes, you can FREEZE bananas…I do it all of the time! I place them in a large gallon sized freezer bag with the skin on! When I need them for a smoothie I take how ever many bananas that I need out of the bag. Let it sit on my countertop for 15-30 minutes. Peel off the skin and mash up the banana. It’s now ready to use.

If you’re looking for a fabulous smoothie blender I would like to recommend the Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Blender For Shakes and Smoothies. It’s fantastic and I use it almost every day.

The following recipe makes 1 serving. I double it up when making smoothies for the two of us.

Banana Blueberry Fruit Smoothie Recipe

3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip Reduced Fat Whipped Topping
1/2 to 1 banana, mashed
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

Place all 4 ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Note: If you like it more of the consistency of  soft-serve ice cream…place the mixture into the freezer for 20-30 minutes and then serve. I like mine like that (soft-serve ice cream) so I eat it with a spoon but hubby likes to drink his straight from the glass. Either way…these are delicious!
