Tips for Getting a Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink CLEAN

Tips for Getting a Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink CLEANI’m a fanatic about keeping my kitchen sink sparkling clean. With that said, it gets a heavy workout almost every day. I cook 3 meals a day for my family and I’m a home canner. My kitchen sink can get dirty and greasy in a matter of minutes. Over the years I’ve used oodles of different products to clean it…some of them have worked while others haven’t.

Last month I ran out of my usual kitchen sink cleaner and decided to try something new. I ordered the Dawn Ultra Platinum Powerwash Spray Cleaner from Amazon. In the starter kit you get a full-size starter spray bottle along with a refill bottle for a decent price. I was excited to give it a try.

The first thing that I did was remove everything from the sink. In other words, I loaded up the dishwasher with the dirty dishes. I used my spray nozzle attachment to spray down the sink using warm water. You want to get it nice and wet. Then I sprayed a full spray around the sink drain, 3 additional sprays throughout the sink and 1 spray up around the faucet and handles. I left it sit for about 3-4 minutes, it wasn’t long.

When cleaning stainless steel you always want to use soft non-abrasive sponges. You don’t want to scratch up that stainless steel. I used a sponge to scrub everything down. I didn’t have to do any HARD scrubbing, just light scrubbing to get things cleaned. I rinsed out the sponge before I took it up around the faucet and handles wiping those down next. You want to get everything scrubbed and wiped down before you use clean water to rinse it all down the drain.

The Dawn Ultra Platinum Powerwash Spray did an excellent job at removing dirt, grease, oil and even 2 light coffee stains that were in the bottom of my sink around the drain. I couldn’t get over how quickly it worked! My kitchen sink looked almost brand new again with a beautiful shine! Okay, I admit…I have a new favorite kitchen sink cleaner and it’s the Dawn Ultra Powerwash Spray Cleaner!

Additional Tips: If you’re dumping something into your sink that can stain ie. tomato sauce, coffee, tea, beet juice, etc. You want to immediately rinse that down the drain, leaving no traces behind. Never let it sit in the bottom of your sink. Don’t use abrasives to clean the sink or souring pads. I personally like using the Scrub Mommy and Scrub Daddy cleaning sponges. Got odors in the garbage disposal? Slice up a piece of citrus fruit and toss it into the disposal. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then grind it up with the water running. Citrus peels are great for deodorizing that garbage disposal.
