The boardwalk in Wildwood is one of the best along the coast in New Jersey. At least in my honest opinion. There are hundreds of shops, restaurants, arcades, a few tattoo parlors, candy stores, miniature golf places, go-karts, waterparks and of course…amusement park rides. Something for everyone to enjoy.
My wife and I are older so we do avoid going up onto the boardwalk during the primetime hours or doing the busy tourist season. Large crowds aren’t are thing. We like to go up early in the morning or early in the evening while tourists are out enjoying their dinners. With that said, we love going down to the Jersey Shore during the off-season like the months of May, early June, late September and in October.
If you’re not staying at a hotel or motel located on the boardwalk or close by you’ll have to drive and find parking. 90% of the parking is paid metered parking, so be prepared for that. There are a few parking lots where you can pay XYZ for parking there for the day. A set amount that can range from $5 to $30 for the day depending on the time of the year.
Traveling with kids? You always want to talk to the kids about staying right at your side and to not run off. You know, those “Stranger Danger” type’s of topics. It’s a discussion we have the with grandchildren EVERY time we take them out into a big public place.
