Crocus are an easy-to-grow flower that returns year after year. They don’t require a lot of maintenance and add beautiful color to your garden. When planting Crocus bulbs you want to plant them September through December (in most areas of the country) before the ground freezes. When do they bloom? Bloom time is in the early spring.
They need to be planted in a well-drained location that receives full sun to partial shade. Loosen the soil and dig a hole about 3″ in depth, maybe a little deeper depending on the size of the bulb. Place 1 bulb into the hole with the pointed side up. Cover with soil.

Continue to plant all of your bulbs in that area until finished using the steps above. They do the best when planted in small to medium-sized clusters. Once you’re done you need to water them. Don’t over-saturate the ground but water thoroughly.
After the growing season is over you should remove the flower stalks but allow the foliage to die back naturally before cutting them back. That’s it…the only maintenance that’s needed beside watering them on a regular basis. You can pick up Crocus Bulbs at your local garden center or buy them from Amazon for a great price.
