Easter Bunny Felt Refrigerator Magnets Kid’s Craft Project

March 16, 2024 by Carol

Last weekend the group of kids at our church sat down and made these cute Easter Bunny refrigerator magnets out of craft felt. They took less than 1 hour to make and cost less than .50 cents per child.

For the template we picked up unfinished wood rabbit cut-outs at the local craft store. You can find FREE rabbit templates online by doing a Google search. To give the kids ideas adults painted the wood cut-outs with acrylic craft paint the week before. Kids like to have something to look out when decorating their bunnies. Photograph shows the wood examples and the felt bunnies that the kids made.

White Felt
Light Pink Dimensional Paint
Black Dimenstional Paint
White Pom-Poms or Large White Cotton Balls
Satin Ribbon (if you want to add a bow)
Scissors
Magnets
All-Purpose Craft Glue
Template/Pattern (explained above)

Use the template and trace out the bunny shape onto white felt. Use scissors to cut it out. If you’re working with really young kids and want to save time you can do this step ahead of time and just let them decorate it.

For the bunny facial features we used light pink dimensional paint to acceent the ears and nose. Black dimensional paint for the eye. You can use white Pom-Poms or Cotton Balls for the tail.  Once the paint is dry flip it over and glue the magnet on the back.

Project Variations:

Instead of using felt you can use white craft foam as the base. You can use a white pom-pom for the tail. Little satin ribbon bow can be added at the top of the head to look like a girl with a blue bow at the neckline for a boy. You can use wiggle eyes instead of painting on the eye. You can do simple ones or get more elaborate with them depending on the age of the child.
