When you visit a doctor’s office you’re coming into contact with germs. No matter how you slice it…germs live at all medical facilities…hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, labs, etc. We all have to visit these places, so how can we avoid the germs while we’re there?
Here’s some tips on 10 Tips on How to Avoid Germs at the Doctor’s Office
1. If you’re sick wear a face mask so that you’re not spreading germs to others while you’re there. If you have a weak immune system…wear a mask while you’re there! Masks work in these type’s of close quarters settings.
2. Only take what you need to take into the facility. Leave handbags, diaper bags, books, etc. in your vehicle. Those type’s of items pick up bacteria and virus’s easily. Leave them behind.
3. Try to avoid touching things like magazines, pamphlets, books, etc. ONLY touch the things you absolutely need to!
4. Don’t touch or drink from public water fountains!
5. If you need to use the restroom while you’re there make sure you wash your hands thoroughly.
6. If there’s room in the waiting room…spread out and try to not sit right beside another patient. Social distancing can help stop the spread of germs.
7. If you feel that you may have something contagious let the staff know immediately. They can give you a face mask or take you directly to an exam room to keep you separated from other patients.
8. Stay off your cellphone and electronic devices unless it’s an emergency. Way too often I see people on them while visiting a medical facility to entertain their time. You’re exposing your devices to all kinds of bacteria and germs. If you need to have them out…make sure you disinfect them as soon as you leave.
9. Carry hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes in your vehicle. As soon as you leave the facility clean your hands, wallet and other items that you took in with you if they can immediately be cleaned. It’s also a good time to wipe down your steering wheel, door handles and other “very touched” surfaces.
10. As soon as you arrive home remove your clothing and place them into a hamper or washing machine. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Clean any belongings that you took in with you. You can take it a step further by spraying Lysol Disinfecting Spray in your vehicle once you arrive home to kill any germs that may be lingering there.
