Quick and Easy Wood Balls Snowman Christmas Ornament

November 27, 2023 by Shelly

Quick and Easy Wood Balls Snowman Christmas OrnamentThese snowman Christmas ornaments are super easy to make! You can make at least a dozen of them in just one weekend! Once completed they can be used as ornaments, package tie-ons, hung from a peg hook, etc. A great craft project for older kids and adults to make.

Quick and Easy Wood Balls Snowman Christmas Ornament

3 Unfinished Wood Balls with Pre-Drilled Holes
10″ Long White Rope
Acrylic Craft Paints: White and Black
Orange Air-Dry Modeling Clay
Scrap Satin Ribbon
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Scissors
Craft Glue

Paint all 3 of the wood balls with white acrylic craft paint. We used 2 coats of paint with 30 minutes of drying time between coats. Take a pea-sized amount of orange modeling clay and shape it into a small carrot shape. We used a wood toothpick to make the indentations. Let it dry overnight.

Dot on 3 small black dots on one ball to serve as the snowman’s buttons. Glue the carrot shaped nose onto that same bead. Then dot on 5 smaller dots with black paint to serve as the mouth. Let dry.

Form the white rope into a loop knotting the 2 ends together leaving about a 1/2″ long tail. Thread the 3 painted balls onto it. Add another knot right above the ball that forms the snowman’s head. You should be left with a nice loop at the top for hanging. Finish up by tying a scrap piece of ribbon around the neck to serve as the scarf. We used 1/8″ wide red satin ribbon. That’s it, you’re done!

These snowman ornaments look very cute and seem easy to make. I shall see if my grandchildren would like to try to make them.

This would make a fun craft idea for our family cookie exchange. I think everyone would enjoy this.
