Barbecue Sauce is one of the easiest things you can make in your own home and flavor it just the way you like it. You can make it sweet, tangy, or smoking hot. My family really enjoys a classic barbecue sauce that we use every time we make chicken out on the barbecue grill. You can use this same sauce when baking chicken in the oven or airfryer too!
Once you have the sauce prepared and cooled…you’ll want to pour it into a glass mason jar, place the lid on top and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a week. This is a sweet barbecue sauce with just a hint of tang to it. If you want more “heat” you can add a tablespoon of hot sauce to it.
How to Make Your Own Barbecue Sauce for Chicken
1 1/2 cups catsup
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. molasses
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. ground mustard
1/4 tsp. paprika
Place all of the ingredients into a medium sized saucepan and whisk together over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Turn off the heat and remove the pan from the burner. Let the sauce cool. Once cool pour into a glass mason jar and store in the refrigerator.
When you’re ready to use it…just remove from the refrigerator and brush onto the chicken.

This is a great recipe to make my own barbecue sauce. I can also make variations on it.
