Last month we spent the afternoon at the Higbee Beach Wildlife Resource Area at Sunset Beach in Cape May, New Jersey. The Wildlife area offers 2 different parking lots, free to visit, walking trails, bird watching platforms, etc. Swimming, picnics, camping, camp fires, etc. are not permitted.
When visting you’ll want to wear comfortable walking shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen, bring along insect repellant and bring a few bottles of water. Please note…there are no trash cans! Visitors must take out what they bring in. Please don’t litter!
We spent time walking down along the coastline which runs along the Delaware Bay. Once we reached the area near Sunset Beach we saw the piled up rock displays. We have no idea who piled up all of those rocks but they certainly weren’t there in October 2022 when we were there. It was very strange looking to see. Usually the beach area is pristine and left in it’s natural state. Not sure why that was done.
After our walk we headed to the Sunset Beach Grille (located right on the beach) and grabbed a quick bite to eat. They have your basic lunchtime fare like burgers, hot dogs, pizza, french fries, etc. A little on the pricey side and just “okay” food. Nothing I would brag about but at least it filled our bellies.
Overall, we had a nice time at Higbee Beach and spending time in the great outdoors!
Its nice to be so close to the beach.
Have to admit the rock caught my eyes — we saw the piled up rock displays.
