These chocolate chip muffins are moist, sweet and delicious! They’re perfect for breakfast or for snacking. Every time I make them they’re a big hit with the family. I use semi-sweet chocolate chips but you can certainly use dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips.
If you want to make a double batch and freeze some for later use you can! Just let them cool to room temperature and then place the muffins into freezer containers. I like to use a sheet of parchment paper or freezer paper to separate muffins when I’m freezing them. They will keep for 3-6 months in the freezer. Thaw at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator.
Mom’s Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose general flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
* optional Non-Stick baking spray
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Lightly spray a muffin tin with non-stick baking spray or line the cups with paper liners.
In a large mixing bowl combine together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg until blended. In a separate mixing bowl sift together the all-purpose general flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder and salt. Once blended make a “well” in the center. Pour the ingredients from the first bowl into the second bowl (into the well). Stir or mix until the ingredients are well combined. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until distributed throughout the batter.
Spoon the batter into the muffin cups filling them 2/3 of the way full.
In a measuring cup combine together the 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and brown sugar using a spoon. Sprinkle the sugars on top of the prepared muffins.
Place the muffin tin into a 375 degrees F oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the centers are done. The tops should be a light golden brown and the centers should spring-back when touched. Remove from the oven. Place muffins on a wire rack to cool.
Once cool store muffins in an airtight container.

I love muffins and am a chocolate lover too. I would probably add some cocoa to the mix!!
They look delicious. I love a tall muffin.
These look and sound so easy to make…………….. BUT I don’t bake just wait for family to drop by with baked good or buy at krogers.
I buy a 1 lb bag of flour ever Jan and then in Dec I throw 95% of it a way 🙂
