If there’s one thing I hate shopping for it’s swimwear. I dislike going through racks upon racks of swimsuits trying to find the perfect style and color for me. Then you head into the dressing room to try them on and none of them fit you correctly. On top of all of that…who the heck knows how many other people have tried on that same dang bathing suit? I mean really? What’s to enjoy about all of that? Nothing!
Like everything else I buy I’m always looking for deals. I needed a new swimsuit so I headed into one of my favorite stores Gabe’s to have a look around. I went into their women’s swimwear department and found a lot of suits that I liked but they were more than I was willing to pay. I just wanted something simple, modest and pretty to wear in our backyard swimming pool.
I then headed into the section of their store where you find alot of the women’s clearance and final markdown apparel. To my surprise…I found an entire rack of women’s swimwear marked down to bargain deal prices. I found a 2 piece tankini that was perfect for me to wear in our backyard pool and guess what? It was ONLY $8.99 for the 2-piece set. I got the tank and the bottoms!
Once I got up to the register I asked the clerk why they didn’t have all of the swimwer together? She stated that the suits in the clearance area are from last year and what the store had left. They didn’t want those mixed in with the new styles that arrived for this season. There’s nothing wrong with the suit…the style and colors are still appropriate for this season, especially for a 55 year old woman like me. I purchased it with a smile on my face.
Tips for Shopping for Women’s Swimwear on Clearance
1. Don’t be afraid to purchase swimwear after the season is over and it’s on clearance for a great price. Put it away for a few months until you need it. Those styles don’t change that drastically from season to season.
2. If you don’t find what you’re looking for in one department…keep looking throughout the store. They may have an area with apparel from last season that they’re trying to get rid of that’s not with the current season’s items!
3. Look over the item very carefully before putting it into your cart. Check all of the seams, straps, padding, etc. Also, make sure that the panty portion still has the hygiene liner intact. I personally won’t buy bathingsuits if the hygeine liner is missing.
4. Ask the store about their return and refund policies on clearance merchandise if you’re not trying it on before leaving the store. Some stores won’t allow you to return clearance items, especially apparel. Be informed before you buy!

That is a very nice-looking swimsuit at an amazing price. I am finding it harder and harder to find styles that I like in clothes.
Wow I had to read that price of $8.99 twice! I love this swimsuit that you got and that is a great score!
