How to Make Healthy and Delicious Fruit Smoothie Bowls

Healthy and Delicious Fruit Smoothie BowlsOne of my 2023 New Year’s resolutions is to eat healthier foods and to get more exercise. I’ve been drinking more water and I’ve incorporated fruit smoothie bowls into my diet. If you’ve never tried one…they’re easy to make and can be tailored to your own liking. I’ve been using them as a meal replacement 4-5 times a week. A great way to get more fruits into your daily diet.

One of my favorite fruit smooth bowls is the one shown in my photograph today. Here’s the recipe.

It’s made with a base of frozen strawberries, bananas, blueberries with almond milk and organic honey. The top layer is made with fresh kiwi slices, blueberries, mango, sliced bananas, granola, coconut flakes and a little bit more honey.

When making them and using a wide variety of different fruits I recommend that you add just a little bit of each. You don’t need to go gung-ho with them. First make up your base, then add your topping layer. If I’m looking to add protein I’ll toss in chopped peanuts or cashews to the mix. My daughter likes tossing in sunflower seeds when she makes them.

You can use fresh, frozen or a combination of the two when preparing them. If you’re using fresh…try to use in-season fresh fruits to save money (in-season is always a little cheaper than buying off-season fruits). I can find deals on fresh fruit when I visit the local farmer’s market to save even more money (cheaper than our grocery store). You can pick up bags of frozen fruits and fruit mixes at Dollar General and some Dollar Tree stores too.

My granddaughter loves making smoothie bowls like this. We are lucky to have so many fresh fruits available at a good price now.
