For this review feature we received a jar of the Sliced Red Onions from Small Town Cultures. I decided to try them in my Grandma’s old-fashioned cucumber salad recipe. I used a fork to remove several sliced onions from the jar as I didn’t want the “juice” along with them. I used a paring knife and chopped up the sliced red onions and tossed them into the cucumber salad. Oh my gosh…they added such a nice flavor! Mom’s Creamy Cucumber Salad Recipe
2 fresh large cucumbers
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. white vinegar
Small Town Cultures Sliced Red Onions
dash of salt
dash of ground black pepper
dash of celery seed
Peel cucumbers. Slice into thin rounds.
In a medium-sized bowl combine together the sour cream, mayonnaise, milk, granulated sugar, white vinegar, finely chopped Small Town Cultures Sliced Red Onions, salt, black pepper and celery seed. Stir all of the ingredients together until you get a nice dressing. Taste-test it. You can sweeten it up (add more granulated sugar) or make it a little more creamy by adding additional sour cream. If you really want an awesome flavor boost…add more of the red sliced onions.
Place the cucumber slices into the dressing and stir to coat. Cover the bowl and place into the refrigerator for 2-4 hours to allow the flavors to infuse. This is BEST when it has been well-chilled! It will keep for up to 4-5 days in the refrigerator.

Sound delicious with some nice crunchy cucumbers and the red onion flavor. Lots of cucumbers at the farmers market so a good way to use them..
