To get started…you want to print out a list of items for them to find. The list can be tailored to suit the landscape and area around you. They will need a basket or tote bag to place the “found items” in. If you don’t want bothered coming up with your own list and printing it out…you can buy Kid’s Outdoor Nature Scavenger Hunt Kits from Amazon.  Here’s a list that you can start off with and add to.

Chubby Pinecone
Skinny Pinecone
2 Acorns
4-5″ Twig
Smooth Rock
Rough Stone-Rock
Empty Snail Shell
Empty Seashell
3 Different Type’s of Leaves
Few Pine Needles
3-Leaf Clover
4-Leaf Clover
Violets (2-3 small violets)
2-3 Dandelions
1-2 Pieces Small Bark

Once the scavenger hunt is over…you can let them use the “found items” to create an art project. We picked up inexpensive canvas art boards and bottles of craft glue. They arranged the items onto the art boards and glued them into place. Left them dry overnight and they had a new piece of artwork that they created themselves.

This is such a cute idea. You can plant items around the yard to find a bonus objects.
