Hoarding Trash and Junk in a Car is UNSAFE

Have you ever seen a home, business or vehicle that belonged to a hoarder? Have you ever watched the hoarding TV show? I’ve only seen it a few times. With that said, I do know that hoarding is a mental illness, so I’m not hear to make fun of those who suffer with it. They definitely need professional help to manage the disease.

A few weeks ago we stopped into McDonald’s and saw this one car stacked floor to ceiling with newspapers, books, fast food bags and other trashy things. This was NOT a vehicle that someone was living out of. There were NO personal items like clothing, blankets, pillows, etc. When you looked into the vehicle it was books, newspapers, and trash.

It’s hard to tell from my photo but things in the back seat were stacked floor to ceiling. I don’t think a small dog could of fit into the back seat area. Then on the passenger front seat books and newspapers stacked up with a ton of books thrown all over the dashboard. There were tons of fast food bags and food wrappers thrown all over the place inside the vehicle.

The person who was driving the vehicle was inside McDonald’s picking up lunch. When he came out he was cleanly and neatly dressed. Friendly, said hello to the group of us that were standing there by his car.

Seeing this entire thing made me sad that someone lives like this. Not only did it make me sad, but it made be worried for his safety and others who are out and about. Why? All of the windows except the driver’s side door window had obstructed views. That’s certainly not a safe way to drive around. Someone could seriously get hurt.

I don’t know this person…but I sure hope they get some kind of help or treatment soon. Before anything bad happens. If you know of a person who is a hoarder…please talk to them…support them and try to encourage them to receive help for their disorder.

My mother (93) is NEAT Hoarder! My mother grew up in the time of you used and reused everything. Her coffee maker died one time and I got her a new one just like the old. Unpacked it, made coffee and it worked great. She picked up the old dead coffee maker and started to put it in a closet. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ITS BROKE!!!! Well i might need it. You cannot change her.

That is sad. People don’t realize what a drain that is on a person.
