My mom taught me how to make homemade pies at a very young age. I learned how to mix up all of the necessary ingredients, how to roll out my pie dough, and assemble it all to perfection. Pie making is a skill that is taught to all of the girls in our family at a young age.

You can use canned applie pie filling in the recipe but we prefer making it with fresh apples picked up from our local farmer’s market or grocery store. You’ll find that there are different type’s of apples available, I recommend going with half baking apples and half eating apples, any variety that you can find. Baking apples tend to be more tart while eating ones are more sweet. Combining the two make the perfect pie!

I love apple pie. I often use 2 different types of apple in my recipe.
Interesting that you recommend two types of apples. I have heard this advice from others. Apple pie with vanilla ice cream is a favorite for my family.
That looks so good. Thank you for sharing.
