Cinco de Mayo Cocktail Recipes

Reina Rosa (the pink drink) – With the bright flavor of prickly pear puree balanced by a little heat from the jalapeno, this drink is a refreshing twist on a margarita. The cocktail is finished with foaming bitters and a lime salt rim for added zest.

Reina Rosa Recipe (the pink drink)-

4 slices of jalapeno
2 oz tequila
2 oz prickly pear puree
1 oz lime juice
3/4 ml foaming bitters
Lime salt

Rim coupe glass with lime and Twang-a-rita lime salt. In a large pitcher, muddle jalapenos until they are mashed. Stir in tequila, prickly pear puree, lime and foaming bitters until well blended. Shake and pour into glass while straining.

Humo de Rio (blue drink) – Named for the Spanish word for “smoke,” this mezcal-based cocktail has a refreshing twist of blue curaçao paired with lime juice and finished off with a mango-rimmed glass and a slice of mango.

Humo de Rio Recipe (blue drink) –

1 1/2 oz mezcal
3/4 oz dolin blanc
1/2 oz blue curaçao
1 oz lime juice
Mango salt rim with fresh mango
slice of mango

Rim glass with lime and Twang-a-rita mango salt. Add mezcal, dolin blanc, blue curaçao lime juice in a shaker. Shake and pour into glass while straining and top with a slice of mango

Battle of the flowers (green drink) – This cocktail is made with tequila, elderflower liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup, and midori, all blended together with Twang’s pink grapefruit salt for a uniquely zippy and satisfying drink.

Battle of the flowers Recipe (green drink)-

1 1/2 oz tequila
3/4 oz elderflower liqueur
3/4 oz lime juice
3/4 oz simple
3/4 oz midori
Pink grapefruit salt

Rim glass with lime and Twang-a-rita pink grapefruit Salt and fill with ice. Add tequila, elderflower liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup and midori in a shaker. Shake and pour into glass while straining.

    Although I have never heard of any of these drinks I am sure they would be good at any time of the spring or summer. I like most cocktails that have fruit in them!
