Pereg ZA'ATAR and SHAWARMA Roasted Turkey Recipe

Over the years I’ve used their Plantain and Yellow Corn Flours, Classic Bread Crumbs, Couscous, Garlic, Quinoa, and many of their spices & spice blends. In my honest opinion, they make some of the best baking and cooking products in the world!

Recently I had the opportunity to try the Pereg Shawarma Middle Eastern Style Seasoning Blend. It’s gluten free, GMO free, Vegan, and Kosher for year round use. This seasoning blend contains coriander, cumin, salt, turmeric, sweet paprika, allspice, and garlic crystals. It’s the perfect seasoning for grilling, used as a rub or for when you’re roasting meats and/or vegetables.

Chef’s Tip: Add tp a variety of BBQ and grilled meats. Also delicious on roasted vegetables.  The serving size is a 1/4 teaspoon.

I also had the opportunity to try out the Pereg Za’atar Passover Blend. It’s gluten free, GMO free, Vegan and Kosher for year round use. This seasoning blend contains Quinoa flour, coriander, olive oil, Za’atar (Hyssop), parsley, salt, and sour salt.

Chef’s Tip: Delicious when sprinkled over eggs, veggies, and salads. Great seasoning for roasted chicken and potatoes.

Pereg ZA’ATAR and SHAWARMA Roasted Turkey Recipe

1 Whole Turkey (We used a 15 lb. Turkey)
Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Pereg Shawarma Middle Eastern Style Seasoning Blend
1 tablespoon Pereg Za’atar Passover Blend
1 teaspoon lemon pepper ground seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mist or brush the outside of the turkey with a little bit of olive oil. In a small bowl mix together the spices. Rub the spices all over the outside of the turkey. Depending on the size of the bird you may have to make a second batch of the spices to get the entire bird covered. If desired (which I recommend) sprinkle additional seasoning inside the bird. Place a sheet of aluminum foil over the top.

Bake in a preheated 325-350 degrees F oven according to instructions that came with the turkey. The one that we used required baking at 350 degrees F for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The pop-up timer popped up right before the 4 hour mark. After the timer popped up…remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to get the skin nice and brown. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before carving. Serve.
