Creative Ways to Organize a Child’s Bedroom

April 15, 2023 by Sam H.

Creative Ways to Organize a Child's BedroomYou see it every day, but look at your child’s messy bedroom and see it right now without the clutter. What do we do to fix this problem? How can we get your child to take pride in and clean up their room?

Organizing a child’s bedroom isn’t as difficult as it seems; it’s just taking a few steps in the right direction. Here are a few creative ways to organize a child’s room.

Use Wall-Mounted Organizers

Wall-mounted organizers are a great way to utilize vertical space while maximizing the floor space when organizing a child’s bedroom. These organizers come in various sizes, shapes, and colors to match the aesthetic of any room. They can store books, toys, crafts, and more, keeping the clutter off the floor and creating more space.

Wall-mounted organizers can be both a design element and a functional feature in a child’s bedroom. They are great places to hang artwork, photos, or small items. Furthermore, these organizers can even store cords, headphones, and other accessories.

These organizers can be further styled with baskets, bins, shelves, and drawers to make them even more interesting. Providing a personalized touch to any space, wall-mounted organizers are an ideal way to organize and decorate a child’s bedroom.

Create a Reading Corner

Creating a reading corner in your child’s bedroom is a wonderful way to spark their imagination and nurture a love for books. Start with a cozy chair or rocking chair, adding a cushion or pillow for extra comfort. Incorporate bookcases to neatly organize their favorite titles, along with storage solutions like bins, baskets, and boxes for easy access to books and other essentials.

To make the space even more inviting, consider adding a small table for arts and crafts. Enhance the atmosphere with hanging tapestries, rugs, pillows, soft lighting, and decorative accents to create a warm and inspiring reading nook. A well-designed reading corner not only encourages your child to read but also provides them with a special place to bring their stories to life.

Use Under-Bed Storage

One of the most creative ways to organize a child playroom is to use under-bed storage. It adds extra storage capacity to the room, keeps larger items, such as toys and games, and can easily be accessed from the bed.

It provides a more organized look to the bedroom and can be a great way to protect the items from dust or damage while creating an organized look. If you have a smaller bedroom, the space underneath the bed can provide clean, clutter-free, and out-of-sight storage.

In addition, under-bed storage can provide the right amount of tidiness in a child’s bedroom while encouraging creativity. You can also add a Murphy bed to save space. Find the best Murphy bed materials and make sure you are getting the best quality.

Incorporate a Desk or Workspace

One creative way to organize a child’s bedroom is to incorporate a desk or workspace. This provides an easily accessible space for children to do their homework or any other activities they need a desk or workspace. Not only can desks provide a space for storage and organization, but they can also provide an incentive to stay organized with assignments, projects, and toys.

This can also allow parents to gain control over the daily clutter that tends to happen in children’s bedrooms. Incorporating a desk or workspace can help organize a child’s bedroom and foster many positive traits.

Sort Clothes by Category

Start by assigning a specific drawer or bin for each type of clothing. For example, label one bin for shirts, another for pants, and another for socks. Depending on the age of the child, hangers can also be used and labeled with the type of clothing being hung.

Then, separate all clothing items into each drawer or bin to create a visual effect that leads to easy organization and sorting. Finally, if the room allows, add a dresser to the bedroom to hang even more items like sports jerseys or dresses and designate specific drawers for items like underwear or socks.

Label Everything

Having labels on all of their clothes, toys, supplies, and child’s room furniture can help them easily identify things and find items more quickly. Labeling shelves and drawers with pictures and words help kids of all ages understand how and where things go.

Having clearly defined areas can help kids be more independent and responsible with organizing their stuff and allow them to develop healthy habits of putting things away.

Use Color Coding

Color coding is a great way to help your children create a sense of order within their space. Start by assigning each area in the room color and put items of the same color in the same area. This can be done with decorations, clothes, toys, and any other items in the room.

It will not only help your child find things faster, but it will also help keep everything off the floor and in its proper place. Ask your child to help choose the colors for their room, and you can find items that match the colors together. This will make it more enjoyable for them and help them learn organizational habits in their way.

Involve Kids in the Process

This can be done through brainstorming and creating a plan to follow. Consider using bright and colorful bins, a dresser, or a toy box for storage. The child can paint the bins or pick out stencils to add a personal touch.

Hang pictures and artwork created by the child, and allow them to customize the room with their own touches. Let the child sort through their items and share ideas for storing them to create extra space. By allowing the child to be involved in the process, their room will be organized, and they can also learn valuable organizational skills.

Ways to Organize Your Child’s Bedroom

A creative and well-organized bedroom creates a productive, peaceful environment for a child. Use these tips to help organize your child’s bedroom and provide endless hours of fun!

With a good organizational plan, your child’s room can be an oasis of calm and play. So make the most of it! Take action now and organize your child’s most important space for a bright future.

I wish my niece could do all of this. There are many fight and crying about cleaning great nieces room. I saw someplace about using a shoebag for barbie dolls storage. And it works and great niece will always put her dolls back in when she is finished playing with them.
