Last month we were down at the beach and saw something pretty cool just as the sun was getting ready to set. It had been raining for most of the day with high winds…which really kicked up the ocean surf. The Atlantic Ocean was angry and the seagulls were having a hard time finding food thanks to the gusty 45-55 mph winds.
While standing up on the seawall we noticed a few dolphins chasing a school of fish. Well, we weren’t the only ones who noticed them. Within minutes about a dozen seagulls came out of nowhere and started fighting with the dolphins for those fish! They were dive bombing into the water and snatching every fish they could find!
The battle was on. The dolphins and seagulls were fighting on who was going to get the fish. Those fish didn’t stand a chance! We watched the battle for about 10 minutes until it was over. We had never seen seagulls act so agressively…especially towards dolphins and fish that were swimming underneath the water. We’ve seen them attack small fish up near the surf line or lying on the beach…but never that far out into the water. It was something to see!
That would have been fun and exciting to watch. The sea gulls must have been really hungry to try to steal fish away from the dolphins!
