Dollar Tree Tumbling Tower Blocks Easter Bunny Refrigerator Magnet

These Easter Bunny refrigerator magnets are made with almost all supplies purchased at the Dollar Tree. The one shown in my photograph was made by my 13 year old granddaughter who did a great job! You can make several of them in one weekend. Below you’ll find a list of supplies and the how-to’s.

Dollar Tree Shopping List – Tumbling Tower Wood Blocks (kid’s game aisle), white acrylic craft paint, black acrylic craft paint, pink acrylic craft paint, paint brushes, roll of burlap ribbon and a roll of pink satin ribbon.

If you want to make these refrigerator magnets with a group of younger children assemble the 3 blocks together and glue with Gorilla Glue ahead of time. You can pre-make the ears too. Then let the kids paint and assemble the magnet. You need to use commerical-grade craft magnets because of it’s weight once completed. You don’t want it sliding down every time the refrigerator door is open and closed.

Roll of Pink Satin Ribbon
Gorilla Glue (use with adult supervision)
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Stick

1 Piece Metal Florist Wire
Commerical-Grade Craft Magnets

Glue the 3 wood blocks together using Gorilla Glue. Let dry for 1-2 hours. Don’t use hot glue because it doesn’t hold as well. While it’s drying you can work on the bunny’s ears.

Cut tear-drop shaped ears from the burlap ribbon. Cut pieces from the pink satin ribbon to fit inside. You’ll need 2 pieces of metal florist wire slightly smaller than the burlap ribbon ears in length. Use hot glue to adhere the florist wire between the burlap and satin ribbon on each ear. This will help the ears to stand up and to be poseable. Let dry.

Paint the wood block with 2-3 coats of white acrylic craft paint allowing for 30 minutes of drying time between coats. Once the paint is dry add the 2 oval-shaped black eyes, pink heart-shaped nose, the black whiskers and mouth. Let dry for 30 minutes. Dot on the white paint for the inner eyes. Let dry until the paint is no longer tacky.

Use a hot glue gun (with adult supervision) to glue the pre-made ears to the top of the block. We slightly folded under a tiny bit on the bottom of each ear so that they would stand up. Cut a piece of pink satin ribbon and glue that around the neckline of the rabbit. Cut another piece of pink satin ribbon and tie it into a bow. Glue that into place.

Flip the entire thing over and use Gorilla Glue or a hot glue gun to glue on 2-4 commerical grade craft magnets. Let dry thoroughly. We can typically use 2 or 3 magnets for the majority of our Tumbling Blocks magnets.
