How many of you enjoy visiting little neighborhood parks? We do! Whether in our local area or when we’re traveling…we try to visit little parks in the area. The majority of them are beautifully landscaped with flower gardens, fountains, sculptures, statues, memorials, etc. You never know what you’ll find.
Last year while visiting Wildwood in New Jersey we stumbled upon Scotty’s Park. It’s a neighborhood park dedicated to the memory of Scott F. Gregg Jr. who passed away in 2018. The main attraction is the gorgeous water fountain and that’s where you’ll find the memorial stone. I placed one of my hand painted seashells in front of it. I saw other ones there too!
There are paved walking areas (sidewalks) for you to navigate around the area. There are several park benches for you to sit down on and relax. Too bad it was raining on the day that we were there, otherwise I would of sat down and done some people watching which I enjoy doing when we’re traveling.
We discovered the little park while seeking out the art sculptures on exhibit by Seward Johnson. They have 7 of them sprinkled around the parks in Wildwood (it’s called Arts in the Parks) and discovered 2 of them inside Scotty’s Parks.
The first one features a Mom reading a book to a young child. It’s titled No Mommy, That One. The second one is on the other side of the park and titled Sidewalk Concert which features a violin player. They’re beautiful, and my rainy day photographs do them no justice. Sorry, the weather wasn’t cooperating at all. They’re life-size and very life-like! When we drove by them I swore that they were real people!
It’s always nice to visit small parks like this one…especially if you enjoy outdoor street art (like we do) or just want to discover something new about a particular area. We are looking forward to visiting again in a few months and hopefully next time the weather will cooperate with us.
I do love these statues. My little parks near me do not have any statues, but they are there inthe bigger parks. I really want to visit Wildwood some day.
