How to Safely Store Eggs for the Best Results

How to Safely Store Eggs for the Best ResultsBuying eggs at the store is expensive and after you buy them you want them to last as long as possible. Not only last…but stay in the freshest condition to avoid any type of food posioning. Here’s how you should be storing those store bought eggs.

1. After grocery shopping go immediately home. If you need to make a quick stop on the way home place the carton of eggs into a cooler with an ice pack. They need to be kept cool at around 40 degrees.

2. Once home unload all of the refrigerated and freezer groceries first. Keep them in their original carton. Don’t place them in fancy egg holders or on the refrigerator door!

3. Store in the original carton in the coldest section of your refrigerator. They need to be kept at around 40 degrees F. If any of them are cracked or damged…remove from the carton and dispose of them immediately. Don’t let them sit in the carton with your undamaged eggs.

4. Expiration Dates – Sell by dates and Use by dates are different! They can be used after their sell by dates but should be used before their use by dates. If you have properly stored them they should keep for 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator.

I love eggs, so this was very useful information. I already sopped using the fancy egg holder I once bought!

  2. This was super helpful for me to read especially the expiration dates. I always keep them in the carton. Eggs are like $6.00 a dozen here right now so this was super helpful to read.
