Doo Wop Motel Neon Signs

Doo Wop Motel Neon SignsWildwood was the center of the Doo Wop movement back in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Millions of people would flock to Wildwood for vacation and the music scene. Doo Wop musicians entertained visitors while local businesses profitted from the tourism. It was one of the hottest destinations on the eastcoast.

Fast forward several decades and now you see all modern motels, hotels, and businesses. However, if you look close…you can still see some of the Doo Wop influence remains. There’s a Doo Wop history museum that educates visitors on the history and you’ll see a lot of artifacts on display. It’s a great little place to visit.

Doo Wop Motel Neon Signs

Right outside of the museum you’ll see a display of old Doo Wop motel neon signs! They’re large and in-charge! They’ve been lovingly preserved for all of us to enjoy! On the day we were there it was pouring down rain with gusty winds so I couldn’t get a great photograph of them. Regardless, I did want to share what we saw. Very cool!!!

We’ll be heading down there again in a few months and will stop by to get better pictures. Hopefully the weather will cooperate the next time around.

I did not know that Wildwood was the center of the Doo Wop movement. This is another reason to visit there!
