5 Reasons Why Montgomery County is a Pleasant Place to Be

February 28, 2023 by Sam H.

Texas is an enormous state. Many of the residents love it, but there is fierce debate about the best city and the most desirable county. There’s little doubt, though, that Montgomery County is one of the state’s top contenders.

You can look for new homes in Porter, TX if you’re interested in living there. If you do not know much about this paradise on earth yet, let’s take some time and learn more about it.

Homes in Texas

These are five of the top reasons why Montgomery County is such a pleasant place to purchase property and settle down.

There Are Several Thriving Industries

Employment opportunities matter and Montgomery County has some thriving industries that are always looking for some new recruits. You can work in the aerospace industry. Prist Aerospace is one of the area’s biggest employers.

You might also get into the manufacturing or healthcare industries. You can also find plenty of retail jobs if those appeal to you.

There’s a Rich and Storied History

You can also live in a part of Texas that has an incredible history that is fascinating to learn. This part of the state began as a humble trading post way back in 1826. Montgomery came to be known as the county’s first seat, and it was the Republic of Texas’s third county.

The iconic Texas Lone Star flag was created in Montgomery County. That’s why you see it flying outside so many businesses and on so many tee-shirts and belt buckles.

There’s Absolutely Amazing Food

Since this is Texas, it should not surprise you that food is one attraction the residents always bring up when trying to entice new neighbors to move to the area. What might shock you is that barbecue is not the first cuisine that most of them mention.

Many point to the Cozy Grape Wine Bar and Bistro as being one of the best places to try some local fare. The Walden Yacht Club has its admirers, but perhaps The Big Sombrero is the best-loved eatery in the entire county. The margaritas are legendary, as are the authentic Tex-Mex favorites. You’re not going to leave this place hungry.

You’ll Find Nearby Wildlife

You’re also surrounded by incredible natural beauty in Montgomery County. You’re close to the Highlands, where you can see animal species that include armadillos, bats, snakes, coyotes, turtles, and many more.

You can visit John Burge Park at Shadow Lake. You’ll find towering, shady trees, pleasant hiking trails, and picnic areas where you can rest and eat a meal.

A Small-Town Feel

When you move to Montgomery County, you’re very close to Houston. You can go shopping there or catch a Rockets or Astros game any time you like.

At the same time, there’s a decidedly small-town feel to the place. The community is close-knit, and there are small class sizes, so your kids can get lots of individual attention.

There’s a lot to like about this part of the state. Consider moving there if what we’ve mentioned appeals.

I have never visited Texas, but I would love to go there. I like the fact that Montgomery county has a small town feel but is close to Houston.
