5 Things to Consider When Purchasing Bean Bag Chairs for Kids

Children love bean bag chairs and I can’t say that I blame them. They’re portable, light-weight, and comfortable. They can sit in them or lounge for a nap. They come in various sizes, colors, and shapes. With proper care a good bean bag chair can last your child for years.

When purchasing a bean bag chair for the kids it’s important to consider a few things.

1. Size. You want to get one that is perfectly sized for the age of the child. You don’t want to purchase a large one for a 3 year old and vice-versa. Look for age and weight recommendations on the package.

2. Removable Cover. Kids are messy and you want to be able to keep the chair clean. Purchase one that has a removeable machine-washable cover. We launder our covers every 2 months or more frequently if needed. Hang to air dry.

3. The Fill. These days you can find chairs filled with all kinds of different materials. Make sure you’re “okay” with what it’s filled with. Equally important is how much fill is inside the chair. You don’t want the child sinking down onto the floor. There needs to be enough fill for support and comfort.’

4. Safety. Does the chair come with any safety features? If you’re purchasing for a very young child make sure that the chair has a locking zipper on the cover.

5. Price. You know that old addage…you get what you pay for? Well, that holds true for bean bag chairs too! Look for high-quality chairs with the features that you need. You don’t need the break the bank on price nor do you want the cheapest one that you can find. Both of the ones we purchased were made in the U.S.A.
