How to Make a Christmas Ornament Ball Door Wreath

How to Make a Christmas Ornament Ball Door WreathTwo weeks ago I went into Dollar Tree to pick up supplies to make a holiday door wreath for my daughter. This year she’s decorating in a beautiful pink blush color, champagne, and gold color scheme. I love shopping at the Dollar Tree for affordable craft supplies. Almost everything to make this beautiful Christmas door wreath was purchased from my local DT store.

Here’s a list of what you’ll need.

Dollar Tree

Round Metal Wreath Frame
White Steering Wheel Cover
4 pkgs. Large Plastic Ornament Balls
3 pkgs. Small Plastic Ornament Balls
1 Roll of Sheer Ribbon (I chose one with a gold metallic pattern)

Hobby Lobby

3 pkgs. of Faux Pearls (small, medium, and large sizes)

General Supplies

Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue Sticks (2 small packs)
Florist Wire
Scissors

I personally found that the balls didn’t adhere well to the metal wreath frame without me covering the wreath with fabric. I purchased a white fabric steering wheel cover and it perfectly stretched and fit around the wreath frame…no glue was needed!

Separate the ornament balls into colors and sizes. I found it easier to work in sections as I went around the wreath gluing them on with my glue gun. You want to use a generous amount of glue to attach them. Start with the larger balls first, then the medium and then the small ones. Use the pearls or beads to fill in the small gaps along the way.

Work around the entire front of the wreath until it has been completely covered. I made my own bow and glued it at the top of the wreath. You can glue one at the top, bottom, or slightly off-centered. Whatever appeals to you. Not great at bow-making? You can purchase pre-made bows at most general craft supply stores.

You may need to make a wire hanger to glue on the back so that it can be hung up onto a wall or door properly. I cut a piece of metal florist wire (about 6″ in size) and twisted it into a loop. Used my hot glue gun and simply glued it onto the back (near the top) for hanging. That’s it, you’re done!

  2. Very pretty and clever to use a steering wheel cover to fit the frame. Time for me to go to the Dollar Store for more art supplies.
