A couple of months ago we were down in Wildwood, New Jersey enjoying a nice vacation. We love the south Jersey Shore area as it has the prettiest beaches in the entire state. There are plenty of low-cost to free activities for the entire family to enjoy. Plus, the beaches are FREE, no beach tags required!
New for Summer 2022 was the Arts in the Parks sculptures that were placed in various parks on the Wildwood island. All of the sculptures were made by the artist Seward Johnson. This entire exhibit had 7 on display and we were able to view 5 of them while we were there. Sadly, hurricane Ian came through, so we didn’t have the best of weather while we were there.
Today I’m featuring two of them in my post. The one in the top photograph is titled Coming Home and features a Daddy (serviceman) coming home and being greeted by his child. We’re huge supporters of the military and really enjoyed seeing this one. Pulls on the heartstrings for sure!
In the second photograph is the sculpture titled Yuck, Go Fetch that features a gentleman playing fetch with his black lab. I’m sure that all dog owners can relate to the job that you feel when outside playing with your BFF, your dog! I’m a cat lover, so I would of loved seeing one featuring a cat.
There were 7 in total with each one depicting a different theme. One had a mother reading a book to a child, another of a violin player, one of a navy sailor kissing his girl, and so forth. All beautifully done! We love outdoor wall murals, street art, and sculptures…we were pretty happy to have checked out the Arts in the Parks summer series while we were there. Now…if only the weather would of cooperated. Sigh.
I enjoy looking at art featured in parks and outdoor venues. I am always impressed by the talented artists.
These are so pretty.
