Veteran’s Memorial – Navy Sailor Statue in Wildwood

Veteran's Memorial - Navy Sailor Statue in WildwoodWe were down in Wildwood a few weeks ago and guess what we saw? Yup, a new Veteran’s Memorial that is in a little walkway park called Memory Lane. Along the path they have placards with the names of veterans that they’re honoring from the local area. Those placards give you the name, branch of military, war, and date of death.

Every time we’re down we try to walk through Memory Lane to pay our respects. Plus, it’s a nice little way to get exercise while doing it.

Anyway, we noticed something new this year and it’s a statue of a Navy Sailor kissing a woman. It’s life-size and very realistic looking…especially if you were driving by and got a quick peek at it. I suggest parking and going up to get a closer look. It’s fantastic!!!

If you look towards the ground you’ll see the veteran placards with American Flags on them that I was talking about earlier in my post. Just beautiful and I love that even when we’re traveling we can stop and pay our respect to our fallen heroes.

This does seem to replicate that famous photograph. It is very realistic looking and I would love to see it.

V-J Day in Times Square is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt that portrays a U.S. Navy sailor embracing and kissing a total stranger
