I found unfinished wooden snowflake ornaments at my local craft supply store for a dollar each. They’re on the larger size compared to a traditional Christmas tree ornament. I decided to paint them and add glitter for the sparkly effect. I’m going to hang them (all six of them) off a garland when I start my holiday decorating next week.
These ornaments are double-layered as shown in the photo and came with a rope hanging cord. I’m going to replace that with clear fishing line as I think it will look even classier.
Hand Painted Glitter Wood Snowflakes Ornaments
Large Unfinished Wood Snowflakes
White Acrylic Craft Paint
Turquoise Metallic Craft Paint
Clear Glitter Glue with Micro-Fine Glitter
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer, Glossy Finish
I used 3 coats of white acrylic craft paint to paint the larger snowflake. Since it appears to be made out of balsam wood, it soaked up the paint and needed 3 coats to get the proper coverage. Once dry, I flipped it over and painted the other side, making sure that I got the edges too. Let dry.
The smaller one was painted using Turquoise metallic acrylic craft paint and I used 2 coats to get the coverage that I needed. Let dry.
It’s hard to see in my photo but I dotted on tiny dots of the clear glitter glue in a pattern that was pleasing to me. I dotted it on both the white and turquoise snowflakes. It took about 3 hours to dry. I think they turned out nicely!

These are so pretty. They can be hung up at a window or a tree. The blue goes so well with the white color.
I like the contrast of the blue and white colors. It really makes the ornament stand out and would be so pretty on a tree.
Those are so pretty. you and color them with the color theme you pick.
