Halloween Ghost Hand Painted Seashell Decoration

These hand painted Halloween ghost seashells make great decorations, party favors, or outside yard art and garden decor. All you need to make them are some basic painting supplies, a large clam shell, a smaller oyster shell and a few other craft supplies. You can whip up several of them in a weekend!

We used large clam shells and oyster shells collected from the beach. You’ll want to wash all of your seashells in hot, soapy water using Dawn Liquid Dish Soap. It does a great job at removing the sand, debris, and fishy odors. Rinse clean. Air dry for 3-4 days.

Large 4″ to 5″ Wide Clam Shell
Small 2″ Tall Oyster Shell
Acrylic Craft Paints – Black, White, Orange, Lime Green
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
E6000 Adhesive Glue
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer, Glossy Finish

Base coat the clam shell with 2-3 coats of black acrylic craft paint. If you want to save time, you can certainly spray paint them. Paint the oyster shell with 2-3 coats of white acrylic craft paint. Let dry until the paint is no longer tacky.

Use black paint to add the ghost’s eyes and mouth. They should be irregular-shaped ovals in shape. Once the ghost is dry use E6000 Adhesive Glue to adhere it to the clam shell. Let dry. Use orange paint to make two round circle shapes to represent the pumpkins. Use lime green paint to add the pumpkin stems and polka dots around the seashell’s edge. Let dry for 2-3 hours.

Take the painted seashells outside and spray them with 1-2 coats of clear acrylic spray sealer. Let them dry for 1-2 hours or until no longer tacky. This will protect the painted finish allowing you to display them inside or outside of the home.

This is another cute decorated for Halloween seashell. You have come up with so many great ideas that it is hard to choose which to make with my grandkids.

  2. This is cute. I would add it to my decorations around the house.

Again, you make such cute decorations. It is light-hearted and nice to do crafts with the girls by coping your designs.
