Slow Cooker Ground Turkey Chili Recipe

During the Autumn and Winter seasons I find myself using my slow cooker a lot! I will get it out and use it 2-3 times a week making various soups and stews. I love that I can toss in all of the ingredients in the morning and have a hot meal ready for the dinner table 6-8 hours later.

This slow cooker chili recipe is easy to make.  Instead of using traditional ground beef…you’ll use the leaner ground turkey to make it. Not a fan of ground turkey? You can use half ground beef and half ground turkey too!

Slow Cooker Ground Turkey Chili Recipe

Slow Cooker Ground Turkey Chili Recipe

1 lb. lean ground turkey
2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 small cloves garlic, finely diced
1 small onion, diced
4 cans red kidney beans, drained
1/8 cup Jalapeno peppers, diced
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. Selefina dried parsley flakes
1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
6 cups of tomato sauce
1 quart vegetable broth
1 Tbsp. Selefina dried oregano flakes
1 tsp. Selefina ground chili powder

In a skillet saute the lean ground turkey, olive oil, diced garlic and diced onion until the meat is cooked. Drain off the grease. Pour meat mixture into the slow cooker. Add in the remaining ingredients, stir to combine everything together. If needed, you may need to add additional tomato sauce or veggie broth to have enough liquid in your pot. I sometimes have to add an additional 1/2 to 1 cup of tomato sauce.

Cover the slow cooker and set it on the low setting for 6 to 8 hours. You can serve on its own or over cooked rice, a baked potato or with pasta.
