My family has been making Paperclip Angel Ornaments for decades! They’re easy-to-make and you only need 3 items to make each one! The project is simple enough for kids to do and you can make dozens of them in just one afternoon! Use them as Christmas ornaments, package tie-ons, place in greeting cards, or just hand out to loved ones when needed.
For this project you can use any color of beads or satin ribbon that you would like. We’ve made them over the years using all kinds of different colors. Today’s project shows a silver colored bead for the head and red satin ribbon for the hanging cord. What’s really fun is that not only are they ornaments but they can be used as a bookmark too!
Note: Some manufacturers refer to them as Butterfly Paper Clamps. I’ve always called them Butterfly Paperclips.
How to Make Paperclip Angel Ornaments
1 box Butterfly Paperclips
1 Spool 1/8″ Wide Satin Ribbon
1 Pack of Beads
Scissors
Cut an 8″ piece of ribbon. Fold it in half. Thread it through the butterfly paperclip at the neck area as shown. Pull the two ends through the loop you just made and towards the top of the paperclip. Thread the two ribbon ends through the bead pushing the bead down so it rests on top of the clip. Tie the two ends of the ribbon together in a knot. Trim the leftover ends to be even with one another. That’s it, you’re done!
