How to Make Homemade Ginger Root Tea

How to Make Homemade Ginger Root TeaI admit, I’m a coffee and hot tea drinker. I prefer coffee in the morning and early afternoon. Then I switch over to hot tea for the remainder of the day. That has been my pattern for the past 40 years and I’m not changing it now.

When it comes to drinking Ginger Root Tea I prefer to make my own. It’s really easy-to-do! All you need is herbal tea and crystallized ginger root to make it. Adagio Teas has the perfect gourmet tea and Selefina their new spice shop has the best Crystallized Ginger Root that I’ve ever tried. You can shop for both products (plus others) all at one time!

Selefina offers all kinds of different spices…from your classics like parsley and oregano…to chili powder to cardamom seeds…and everything in between. You can purchase sample sizes and small batches…to get what you need. I like that you don’t purchase huge BULK sizes that go bad (yes spices lose their strength after a few years) before you use them up. You can purchase the sizes that you need!

Selefina Crystalized Ginger Root

Crystallized Ginger Root can be used in a wide variety of different ways. You can use it in your baked goods, desserts (to add a nice zesty flavor), in cocktail drinks, hot coffee and tea, and some people consume it as a snack. I like to use it in my hot tea!

How to make homemade ginger root tea? Well, I’m going to tell you!

I recommend using any tea that you prefer. I typically stick with green, white, or black teas. After you select the type of tea you’ll need a package of Crystallized Ginger Root. If you want the best…shop for it at Selefina. Place your tea bag into a mug and then pour in the hot water. I like to let it steep for 3-4 minutes and then take the tea bag out. Remove a piece of Crystallized Ginger Root from the resealable package. Use a dipping spoon to add it into your tea. I like to let it sit in my hot tea for 2-3 minutes, while ocassionally stirring it around. You can let it sit in your tea as you drink it or use the dipping spoon to remove it and sit it on the side. The longer you let it in the tea…the more flavor you’ll get.

I personally will sit it on my saucer after a few minutes. Drink my tea. After my tea is all, I place it back into my mug (or tea cup) with fresh hot water. I let that sit for 4-5 minutes and then sip on ginger root flavored water for the next hour or two. Soooooo good! I’m sure there are other ways to make it…but that’s how I like to do it.

Head on over to Adagio Teas and Selefina to check out all of the gourmet teas and spices that they have to offer. You can connect with the company on Facebook and Instagram too!

I have placed a piece of fresh ginger in most of my hot teas. I also make a big batch of iced lemon teas with different teas and ginger in it too.
