This Frankenstein storage container was made by upcycling a used Gain Laundry Pods Plastic Container. You’ll need black and white acrylic craft paint, a black paint pen, a paint brush, paper towels and a water dish to decorate it. A really easy Halloween craft project that can be completed in a few short hours.
You’ll need to prepare the Gain plastic container by removing all of the adhesive labels. I soaked it in warm soapy water in my kitchen sink to losen it up…then peeled them right off. I used a Mr. Clean Eraser to get some of the adhesive film that was left behind off of the container. Wash the inside and outside of the container with soap water, rinse clean, then towel dry.
Remove the plastic lid and paint it black with 2 coats of acrylic craft paint allowing for 20-30 minutes of drying time between coats. While it’s drying you’ll want to paint irregular triangles around the container opening to represent his jagged hairline. Go all around the container.
Two white oval shapes represent his eyes. While they’re drying us a black medium-tip paint pen (not a marker) to add the 2 black scars on his face, the nose, and jagged shaped mouth. Once the white eyes have fully dried you can use the black paint pen to add the pupils as shown in the photograph. Let the entire container dry and cure overnight.
You can let it as-is or spray it with 1-2 coats of clear acrylic spray sealer to help protect the newly painted finish. This container should NOT be used to store food items or candy. It’s for decorative purposes only! If you like it…check out our GRINCH design using an upcycled Gain Laundry Pods Plastic Container too!

This is such a creative idea. I never though about trying to repurpose old detergent containers. I am sure that my grandkids would love to try this craft.
