Common Causes of Hair Loss and Ways to Promote Regrowth

August 23, 2022 by Sam H.

Common Causes of Hair Loss and Ways to Promote RegrowthHair loss is something that many of us don’t bat an eyelid about until it happens to us. If you notice your hair is thinning and falling out, this can be distressing to witness, regardless of gender. While hair loss is more common in men, women can experience it too. There are a number of causes of hair loss, including ageing, genetics, and illness.

While hair loss is a normal part of daily life, with most of us losing strands every day, if you notice yours is becoming more prevalent and visible, you may want to look into treatment options to promote regrowth. Here are some of the common causes of hair loss and what actions you can take next.

Genetics

In many instances, hair loss can simply be put down to genetics. In men, hair loss may take the form of a receding hairline and balding, whereas, in women, they may experience general hair thinning or widening of their part. Alopecia areata is a condition that causes the immune system to attack hair follicles. It may be genetic in some cases.

Emotional Stress

When you are dealing with a life-altering event, like a breakup or divorce, this can cause significant emotional stress. Not only may you encounter stress and anxiety, but it can also disrupt the normal cycle of hair growth. Emotional stressors can result in temporary hair loss. However, once you manage your stress and get it under control, you should find normal hair growth returns.

Diet

We all understand the importance of following a balanced diet. After all, eating well gives you the essential nutrients, vitamins, and protein needed for your body, ensuring all your organs and internal systems work correctly. For those with poor nutrition, this can cause all kinds of nutrient deficiencies, leading to hair loss. If you notice patches of baldness or thinning hair, your diet could be the leading factor.

Infections

There are various illnesses and infections which can lead to hair loss. An infection that causes a high fever, or skin infection can be responsible for thinning or balding hair. You need to treat the underlying infection, which can help in restoring hair growth and preventing future hair loss. Make sure to see your GP for the primary health problem.

Thyroid Problems

Either an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) can cause hair loss. This is because both conditions cause a hormonal imbalance. Hormones help in regulating practically every function in our body, such as hair growth. You need to get the right treatment to control either of these thyroid issues. This will get your hormones under control and stop hair loss in its tracks.

Some people deal with hair loss better than others. Establishing the cause behind your hair loss can help you going forward. There may be the option for specific treatments or surgery which can promote hair growth. For individuals seeking a gentle yet effective hair restoration method, Calecim’s stem cell hair growth serum supports follicle regeneration and encourages fuller, stronger hair.
