I use a lot of reclosable zipper sandwich bags in my home. I use them for food prep, lunch packing, organizing non-food things, sorting and storing craft supplies, traveling, and all sorts of other things. I love that they’re clear, take up no storage space (when not in-use), and can be used for all sorts of different things.
In the past I used to buy small boxes of them at my local Dollar Tree and Dollar General Stores thinking I was being frugal and saving money. Well, I was wrong. Dang it, I hate to admit when I’m wrong! I was over-paying, that’s for sure!
Two months ago I started buying them in BULK SIZE from Amazon. I’ve been buying the Amazon Basics Reclosable Sandwich Bags with Zipper Closure. You get 300 of them in the box. Yes, you read that right, 300 bags! Price ranges from $7.50 to $8.68 depending if they’re on sale. If you have Amazon Prime, they’ll ship for FREE. Mine arrive within 2 business days every time I order them.
So, why am I telling you this? Well, I don’t want you wasting your money either! Those little boxes at DT typically contain 12-18 bags for $1.25 plus tax. Majority of the time they’re generic brand and not that great of quality.
The Amazon Basics 300 Reclosable Zipper Sandwich Bags are a really nice quality! They’re easy to open and close. Even though they’re sandwich bags, you can definitely freeze in them too. They’re not thin nor flimsy. When I use them for freezing, I like to do small veggie portions (like chopped peppers, onions, celery, carrots, etc). and freeze in each sandwich bag. Then place all of those into a gallon size freezer bag. Then I can take out exactly what I need.

I am very glad to have read this post. I am going to try the Amazon brand of zipper bags and not just in the sandwich size.
I use zipper sandwich bags like a crazy person. Seeing this post reminded me that need to get some more. You’re so right getting them at the dollar store is a rip off and there aren’t enough in the box. I am loving that there are 300 in this box. I am so adding these to my Amazon wish list thanks for sharing as I had no idea that Amazon even sold these until I read your post.
We use zipper bags frequently for lunches and picnics. Thanks for this tip on getting better quality for a reasonable price. I am going to check it out.
