Hand Painted Clownfish Seashell Garden Yard Art

Hand Painted Clownfish Seashell Garden Yard ArtThese hand painted Clownfish seashells would look great displayed in a flower bed, garden area, on your back deck, around the swimming pool, or use for indoor coasta beach decor. They’re easy-to-make and add the perfect pop of color.

You’ll need 4″ wide or larger clam shells collected from the beach. Wash them in hot, soapy water with Dawn Liquid Dish Soap. It’s great at removing sand, debris, and fishy odors. Rinse clean and then air dry for 1-2 days.

Base coat the clam shell with your preferred color. We used a seafoam green color. It took 2 coats of acrylic paint to get the coverage that we needed. Let dry.

Clownfish – Use Google to find a free Clownfish Template and a ton will pop-up. Select one you like, resize it and print it out. Use the paper template by tracing around it using a pencil onto the seashell.

Paint the entire fish with 2 coats of orange acrylic paint. Once dry paint the 3 white stripes and the eye. Let dry. To keep it simple I used a black acrylic paint pen and did all of the outline work with that. It’s a lot easier if you don’t have a steady hand like me! If you have great artist skills you can certainly hand-outline the fish and add the details. Dip the end of a paint brush into orange paint and add the polka dot border around the seashell. Let dry.

Take paintes seashells outside and spray them with 1-2 coats of clear acrylic sealer. I used one with a glossy finish and sprayed both sides of the clam shell. Let dry for 2-3 hours. This will protect the painted finish and allow you to display them inside or outside of the home.
