Watching the Surfers in North Wildwood

June 8, 2022 by Shelly

Watching the Surfers in North WildwoodDo any of you enjoy surfing? Frankly, hubby and I are too old to take up a new sport but we do enjoy watching other people try their hand at surfing. Just by observing over the years, it’s a tough sport and you need to be physically fit to do it!

Every time we’re down in North Wildwood we like to sit out on the sundeck and watch the surfers. There’s a specific area that they all come to on the island to catch the waves. It just happens to be in front of the sundeck, so we can sit there and watch them for hours.

Watching the Surfers in North Wildwood

On really nice weather days (like this particular day back in October) you can see out across the Atlantic Ocean for miles and miles! We can sit there and watch cargo ships, fishing boats, sail boats, wave runners, etc. go up and down the coast. If we’re really lucky (and looking closely) we will often spot a school of dolphins swimming by too.

I tried to zoom up while taking the photos but that’s as close as my camera would get without making the images all blurry. If you look closely you can spot a few surfers in the water. On that day about 1/2 of them were women! Nice to see more and more women getting into the sport.

I have never tried surfing, I do enjoy watching others surf, North Wildwood does look like a beach I would enjoy visiting.

I have watched surfers in Hawaii and am amazed by their athleticism and daring. North Wildwood looks like a gorgeous beach.

Those are beautiful pictures. I can hear the waves hitting the rocks with those visuals.
