Sunset Beach sits on the most southern tip of New Jersey and is located in Cape May. It’s a beautiful area where you can look out over the Delaware Bay. It’s pretty much open year-round although some activities are seasonal. You can visit their website to learn more.
There are two gift shops that offer apparel, beach goods, collectibles, jewelry, toys for the kids, home decor, accessories, etc. The one store offers a large assortment of collectible rocks for the gem collector as well as local seashell treasures.
If you’re looking to grab a bite to eat you’ll find the Sunset Beach Grille. All seating is outdoors. They offer burgers, hotdogs, french fries, chicken fingers, sandwhiches, pizza, and a few other items. The classic stuff you would find at a beachside grille. They can be a tad pricey but more affordable than your standard sit-down restaurant.
Tourist attractions include the World War II Lookout (fire) Tower, the World War II Bunker on the Beach, and a Bird Watching Area. All 3 are free to visit. If you want to climb the steps inside the lookout tower you do have to pay an admission fee but totally free to walk around the grounds.
There’s an 18-hole miniature golf course too! Sunset Beach Mini Golf is one of our favorite places to play when visiting the south Jersey Shore. It’s a beautifully landscaped golf course with most holes being a par-3. It’s perfect for the entire family to enjoy, young and old!
During the summer tourist season they host an evening flag ceremony right on the beach. This ceremony is held to honor those that we’ve lost fighting in any past war. You can learn more about the flag ceremony (held at sunset) from their website. It’s really humbling to see!
This does look like a great place to visit with both historic and fun things to do. I would love to visit there one day.
