Refinishing Old Furniture Using the DeWALT Palm Sander

One of our neighbors that used to live down the street and moved to another state last month gave us several old furniture pieces to upcycle and refinish. They know that Shelly and I enjoy all kinds of home improvement projects including refinishing old furniture. In my honest opinion, older pieces are better made as compared to more modern pieces. That’s my opinion, I’m sticking to it.

Refinishing Old Furniture Using the DeWALT Palm Sander

We post a lot of our projects on the blog and a few readers have asked over the past 3 years have asked us what palm sander do we use? Well, we both use the DeWALT Palm Sander. It’s small enough for my wife to handle in her small hands, it’s not as heavy as other palm sanders, and it gets the job done quickly.

I’ve used it to strip off numerous layers of old paint, varnish, polyurethane, wood stains, etc. It’s handled everything that I’ve used it for. You can use them for sanding wood, plastic, metal, and glass. I’ve only ever used it to sand wood and plastic, so I can’t speak to the other applications.

If you’re looking for a new palm sander that is easy-to-use, light-weight, and gets the job done…this is the one I personally recommend that you get. I’ve had mine for several years and it still works perfectly today. I’m hard on it too! I use it all of the time!

I too agree that older pieces are better made. I have been thinking about trying to fix some of my older pieces and this sander could be very useful.

I agree with you that older pieces are better made. I have gotten some secondhand pieces from family member that are high quality and sturdy. I think the palm sander would be easier for me to use than our current one that feels somewhat unwieldy.
