Heading on vacation this summer to the beach? Live near the beach or have a collection of seashells sitting around collecting dust? Turn those seashells into garden plant markers! Seashells hold up well to the weather! They will help you indentify your garden plants. Use them in veggetable and floral gardens.
The set shown in my photographs were made by my 13 year old granddaughter for our garden. We have 2 medium sized veggie gardens, 2 platform raised beds, and 6-8 containers full with newly planted seeds or seedlings. You can easily get things mixed up, so label your plants…especially early in the season.
You can do quick and easy by just using a Paint Pen Marker to write the name of the plant on the shell. If you’re creative and want to add color to the garden you can draw on fancy designs with Paint Pens or Acrylic Craft Paint. A great craft project to get the kids involved in gardening.
If you’re keeping them simple like these…no need to preserve them with a clear sealer. If you’re going to paint fancy designs on them you may want to preserve them with 2-3 light coats of a clear acrylic spray sealer. Let dry thoroughly before placing them outside in the weather elements.

We collect shells every summer at the beaches near us. I have an herb garden so this would be fun to do to help keep track of them.
Those are cute. I love how you make normal things so cute and useful.
