A Happy Book of Little Gifts to Make by Sarah Hand

A Happy Book of Little Gifts to Make by Sarah HandI enjoy dabbling in the world of arts and crafts, especially with two children at home who need to be kept busy with creative projects. Over the years we’ve enjoyed decorative painting, beading, modeling clay, cardmaking, sticker making, artistic posters, tie dying, and all sorts of different things.

A Happy Book of Little Gifts to Make by Sarah Hand is the newest book to our arts & crafts library. What’s great about this book is that it can be enjoyed by adults and by adults who want to do joint craft projects with their kids, like me! Published by Quarto and Walter Foster.

Spun Cotton Ornaments

This book features easy-to-follow step-by-step projects, creative inspiration, and prompts—all designed to be done at home using affordable, accessible materials. Best of all, the projects are small-scale, so they are portable, giftable, adorable, and fun! A Happy Book of Little Gifts to Make includes varied projects done in all kinds of materials, from papier-mache and paper to crayons, paint, and paint pens.

Projects include how to make dolls, finger puppets, postcards, box and pipe cleaner buddies, booklets, oracle cards, and more. The projects are creative, easy-to-make, an inexpensive! Upcycle boxes and other items into fun new objects. All materials needed are found around the house or easily obtainable from any general craft supply store. No need to run all over the place picking up the required materials. Love that!

As soon as we get back from summer vacation we’re going to sit down and try out some of the ideas. The kids want to make some of the paper books and use some of the other ideas to make handmade greeting cards and posters. My kids are BIG on paper crafts!
