Frugal Finds – Pottery Houseplant Gardening Planters
Gardening…it’s one of my spring and summer passions. I enjoy planting flower and veggie gardens outside and indoors I grow about 35 houseplants. I wouldn’t say that I have a “green thumb” but I do have moderate gardening experience.
During this time of the year I often make houseplant starters for myself and friends. It’s one way I keep the cost down when it comes to growing my own houseplants. I also enjoy it when friends give me starters from their plants.
Last week I went into Hobby Lobby to get some general craft supplies. I decided to browse through the gardening section of the store and stumbled across gorgeous pottery gardening planters. They’re a really nice size and heavy-duty. Nothing cheap or flimsy about them.
The sticker on the bottom originally had them priced at $24.99 each. Then marked down to $17.99 each. Another markdown to $12.99 each and finally….a whopping $4.49 each. Say what? Yes! Now that’s my type of bargain! I grabbed the last 2 that they had in a color scheme that would work in my home. Beautiful!!!
They don’t have drainage holes at the bottom so you’ll need to add your own gravel or crushed-up seashells in the bottom of each one before adding your potting soil or dirt. I also recommend that you place a clear glass planter plate or plastic liner underneath them to help protect your surfaces. In my honest opinion, beautiful for indoor houseplants or put plants inside them for your front porch or back deck.
It’s always fun to come across frugal finds and bargain deals. Especially in today’s economy. Have you found any great deals lately? If so, what did you find and where did you get it?
