Fresh Dog Food for Your Pooch from A Pup Above

A Pup Above Dog FoodI am a proud dog mama and I only want to the best for my two fur babies. Colby and Winston are definitely spoiled and everything from their food to their toys are chosen with love. What they eat is very important to me and I’ve recently been introduced to A Pup Above, which is a dog food that is made from 100% human grade ingredients, non-gmo produce and meat without steroids, antibiotics and hormones.

Most traditional “fresh dog food” has been cooked over high heat. When that happens, the food’s weight shrinks by about 25%, losing a lot of vitamins, nutrients, and protein. A Pup Above uses the sous-vide cooking method, cooking foods slowly and evenly to retain all that wholesome goodness.

My dogs are picky when it comes to their food and their treats. They’ve been known to turn their nose up from time to time, but this was not the case when they got introduced to A Pup Above. We tried all four flavors of food, which I will tell you a little more about.

* Porky’s Luau – a savory blend of lean pork with superfoods like sweet potatoes, pineapple and turmeric are incorporated into this grain-free, Hawaiian-inspired food. My dogs really liked this one as well. I believe Winston enjoyed this one the best (pictured).

* Turkey Pawella – this one was the favorite of my dogs by far. It is made with cage-free, real turkey and non-GMO veggies such a tomatoes, carrots and green peas. It is packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins. My dogs were gobbling this one up immediately, especially Colby (pictured next to his favorite).

* Chicka Chicka Bow Wow – this is a combination of chicken, chicken livers, spinach, sweet potatoes, apples and kale to name a few of the ingredients. My dogs liked this one, but it wasn’t their favorite.

* Texas Beef Stew – this one packs the bold flavors from the Lone Star State. This is a grain-free dog food made with non-GMO veggies and beef that satisfied my pups for sure. There were wagging tails and empty bowls after serving up this one.

A Pup Above Dog Food

What I really like about A Pup Above is that it contains 72% more protein that other dog foods, which helps with weight management, building healthier muscles, skin and joints. I want my dogs to be and stay healthy for as long as possible—especially since they are both seniors.

In addition, all of the A Pup Above products are made by using 100% recyclable packaging, which can make a big difference, especially when It’s estimated that 300 million pounds of plastic pet food and treat bags are generated each year with 99% not being recycled. I love companies that want to make an impact.

A Pup Above is shipped frozen and you simply defrost one of the vacuum-sealed bags for 24 hours in the fridge overnight. One patty is equivalent to one pound of food and lasts for one week. You can use it as a whole meal, a mixer or as topper. We’ve been using it as a mixer as we didn’t want to completely change our feeding routine.

A Pup Above food is sold in stores—find one near you by selecting the Find a Store option on the A Pup Above website. A three-pound bag costs $39.00 and the seven-pound bag is $77.99. To learn more about A Pup Above, follow the company on Instagram and Facebook.

This does sound like a better way to cook dog food. I no longer have a dog, but I would have loved to be able to feed it food like this brand.
