The Seagulls Have Taken Over!

You know you’re near the coastline when you see seagulls all over the beach, boardwalk, rooftops, lamp posts, streets, etc. These days they seem to be everywhere! I swear every time we’re down at the beach there are more and more of them! It’s like they have no natural predators so they’re over-taking the island.

It’s gotten so bad lately that if you try to park your car in a parking lot to go out to eat, to do shopping, go to the grocery store, etc. they’re in the parking lot and refuse to move! That’s right, they refuse to move! We love animals, so we won’t chase them off with the car. We’ve seen people deliberately run them over due to their refusal to move.

On top of all of that…they’re pooping on everything and I mean EVERYTHING! You have to wash your vehicle every few days, hose down your patio furniture, sidewalks, awnings, barbecue grills, etc. because they seem to always be covered in bird poop! It’s nasty!

Just last weekened we came out of one of our favorite ice cream shops and 2 seagulls dive-bombed my hubby to snag his ice cream cone. Yup, they won and got the ice cream! They knocked it right out of his hand and onto the sidewalk it landed. They didn’t hesitate to jump on it to eat. Wow, they’re definitely not afraid of people anymore.
