You know you’re near the coastline when you see seagulls all over the beach, boardwalk, rooftops, lamp posts, streets, etc. These days they seem to be everywhere! I swear every time we’re down at the beach there are more and more of them! It’s like they have no natural predators so they’re over-taking the island.
It’s gotten so bad lately that if you try to park your car in a parking lot to go out to eat, to do shopping, go to the grocery store, etc. they’re in the parking lot and refuse to move! That’s right, they refuse to move! We love animals, so we won’t chase them off with the car. We’ve seen people deliberately run them over due to their refusal to move.
On top of all of that…they’re pooping on everything and I mean EVERYTHING! You have to wash your vehicle every few days, hose down your patio furniture, sidewalks, awnings, barbecue grills, etc. because they seem to always be covered in bird poop! It’s nasty!
Just last weekened we came out of one of our favorite ice cream shops and 2 seagulls dive-bombed my hubby to snag his ice cream cone. Yup, they won and got the ice cream! They knocked it right out of his hand and onto the sidewalk it landed. They didn’t hesitate to jump on it to eat. Wow, they’re definitely not afraid of people anymore.
I do not find this amusing. It is not good for the seagulls or for the people they attack.
I guess I also watched The Birds and remember how scary it was. Sooner or later looks like that town is going to have to take some kinda action. If they would dive bomb an adult what would they do to a child.
I would find this very scary. I still remember watching The Birds and being afraid of too many birds.
