Strawberry Bavarian Gelatin Jello Salad Dessert Recipe

Strawberry Bavarian Gelatin Jello Salad Dessert RecipeFresh strawberries are readily available in the northeast from late April through September. I can often find them at a great price at our local farmer’s market throughout the season. We love eating them and they’re great when utilized in a dessert recipe like this easy-to-make Strawberry Bavarian Gelatin Salad.

You’ll need a gelatin mold. I have 3 different ones that I like to use from Tupperware. My one vintage one gives a HEART shape in the middle, so I like using that one when I make it. To give the same affect, slice a strawberry in half and place it in the middle as shown in my photograph. Sweet!

Strawberry Bavarian Gelatin Jello Salad Dessert Recipe

1 basket of fresh strawberries
6 oz. strawberry gelatin mix (two 3 oz. boxes)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 1/3 cups boiling water
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
8 oz. tub frozen whipped topping, thawed
non-stick baking spray

Spray your Tupperware gelatin mold lightly with non-stick baking spray and set aside.

For the first part of this recipe you’ll only be using 1/2 of your fresh strawberries. Place the strawberries on your cutting board and chop into small pieces, set aside.

In a large mixing bowl dissolve the gelatin mix and granulated sugar in boiling water, stirring until all of the sugar and gelatin has completely dissolved. Cover bowl and place into the refrigerator until it has slightly thickened. This process took 60-75 minutes for me.

Stir the vanilla extract into the thawed whipped topping until blended. Gently fold the whipped topping into the gelatin mixture. Fold in the chopped fresh strawberries until blended.

Pour the entire mixture into your prepared gelatin mold (make sure you lightly spray it with non-stick baking spray). Place the cover on top. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours (best to refrigerate it overnight) before serving. I like to un-mold it onto a round serving tray or large dinner plate.

Slice the rest of your strawberries in half lengthwise. Place them around the gelatin ring. If you have extra slices toss them into the center (as shown in the photograph). Serve immediately.

You’ll want to refrigerate leftovers in a covered bowl or container. Do not place it into the freezer.
